Giselle Chaviano (she/her)
Hi! My name is Giselle Chaviano and I am a sophomore at the University of Central Florida majoring in Psychology on the I-O track, minoring in Writing & Rhetoric and Technical Communications, and getting certificates in HR and Leadership Studies (a mouthful). My career goal is to become an internal consultant for an organization, focusing on hiring and staffing decisions in order to improve workplace productivity and overall organizational performance. I enjoy helping others, listening to music, reading books, and spending time with my cat in my free time! Working on this project with such amazing people and writing about such an important topic has been an honor.
Dallas Doughney (he/him)
Hey everyone! My name is Dallas Doughney, and I am currently a senior at the University of Central Florida. I graduate at the end of the Spring 2021 semester with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Art and Emerging Media Management. After I graduate, my long-term goal is to join the creative team at Universal Studios Orlando Resort as one of the creative minds that has a hand in the conceptualization and creation of the yearly “Halloween Horror Nights” event. Body Dysmorphia is something that I have personally been struggling with for a long time now, and I always knew that I was not alone in this battle, but never really had an outlet to talk about this issue. That’s why I’m so glad that we are able to shed light on this topic, let people know they are not alone, and provide resources as well. So, thank you so much for taking the time to read our blogpost and listen to our stories, I genuinely appreciate it! 😊
Leigh Dyer (she/her)
Hi everyone! My name is Leigh Dyer and I’m a junior at the University of Central Florida. I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations, as well as a minor in writing and rhetoric. I’m currently the Vice President of Membership Experience for my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. As of right now, I currently work as the front desk receptionist for a dental office, but my long-term goal would be serving as the advertising manager for Vogue. I love traveling, reading, writing, music, going to the beach and listening to True Crime podcasts in my free time. I have loved getting to work with these amazing people on this project. Learning more about Body Dysmorphia has been very rewarding and extremely informative. It’s an important topic and I’m so excited I was able to share this learning experience with you all.
Beatrice Miner (she/her)
Hi everyone, my name is Beatrice. I’m a senior at UCF and graduating in Spring 2021 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. I have two certificates: one in Victim Advocacy and one in Criminal Profiling, and I’m currently working towards a certificate in Public and Professional Writing. As of right now I’m working as a Legal Assistant, but I hope to get more involved with private investigations and victim based advocacy in the future. I love dogs, exploring new places, commentary podcasts, and writing. Being able to write about a topic as important as Body Dysmorphia has been extremely insightful and I hope the readers are able to take as much away from this blog post as I have.
Rachel Sallum (she/her)
Hi! I’m Rachel S. and I am a Senior at the University of Central Florida where I am majoring in Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management. I am also getting certifications in Instructional Design which is the field I am aiming to build a career in. I’ve had my own issues with body dysmorphia, and while getting better is a process, writing this blog has helped me be more open with talking about my struggles with people close to me. Hopefully it can also be a positive tool for others who read it.
